Make sure you know exactly who you are trying to attract.
Think about your product or service. What is it’s aim or purpose? Who is it designed to help and how does it help them? Think carefully because this is important.
Here’s an example: At Honest Marketing our products are designed for busy business owners who don’t have the time or possibly the inclination to do all their own marketing, or for those who lack the knowledge and skills to market themselves effectively.
Our aim is to teach someone to become more proficient at marketing, or to do it for them. That’s it.
Now I know who I’m aiming my products at I can market to them more effectively because I can talk to them using their language and talking about their problems or pain points.
Make sure your “Headline” says what you do
The headline is the little sentence or two that the various platforms give you to say what you do. Here are a couple of examples of what I’m talking about. Here’s my Facebook headline..
and here’s my LinkedIn headline…
These headlines are important because they follow you around. Every time you comment, share or like a post your image and headline will show up. This means that many more people will get to see what you do and who you help. The more people who see you, the more chance you have of making a sale.
Notice that my headlines are making use of the “problem” or “pain point” that my ideal customer is experiencing. I am offering to provide marketing solutions for them by way of affordable packages.
Post often and consistently
I’m afraid the days of being able to post a couple of pictures of you or your product and make a sale are well gone (that’s if they were in fact ever here). With the constant changes to the algorithms it is more and more important for you to be on the platforms encouraging engagement with your customers. That is, unless you want to pay to get your posts seen.
The more times you post, the more people will get to see your offers and services. But, I can hear your arguments from here….
“I don’t want to annoy my customers by keep posting”
Oh, if only it were that simple to get all your customers to see all your posts. They don’t. About 2% of your followers will get to see each post you put out. 2%. That’s just 2 people for every one hundred followers you have. On LinkedIn it’s a bit better at about 10% but still?
So, if I post once a day and I have 500 followers 10 people might get to see me. If I post twice a day 20 people will get see me. If I post 4 times a day 40 people will get to see me (get where I’m going with this?)
If I can also encourage my followers to like and comment on my posts I will get an even greater reach so maybe 50 people or 100 people will get to see my first post. If the same number get to see my second third and fourth that’s potentially 400 people who have now seen what I do, who I help and how I help them.
So, get over yourself and get posting. The more you post the quicker you will make sales. Simple as that!!!
